Id just like to thank all the players who represented new york rovers fc from july 2007 to july 2009 ! and a big thank you to the parents for there support......... New york will now fold 'but maybe one day return ! this is mark the manager wishing you all a success in whatever you go on to do in sport' college 'buisness or other ! Take care cya

Goals from matt knowles, zak gray, danny bates and james lewis was enough to overcome a resilient cheadle & gatley B side 7-3 in a game that was all about final preparation for the umbro cup this wednesday ! well done to both sides and good luck in the umbro cup !!!!!!!!!!!

Tues 22nd New york played a friendly against wilmslow town u/18s on a pitch which unfortunately had no nets or markings so th final score was up for debate take ya pick 4-3 4-2 3-2 to wilmslow ! or 4-3 4-2 3-2 to New york throw in 4-4 3-3 wilmslow settled for 4-2 where'as new york settled for 3-3 ? But scoring aside this was a close game as it turned out with wilmslow town playing the neater football and always trying to play there way through a strong and determined new york ! wilmslow took the lead thru a howler of a mistake by new york outside the box then 5 mins later 2-0 with a great move and finish h-t into second half new york hit back after 5 mins with a crakin 25 yarder fron joel torky 2-1 wilmslow ten mins later wilmslow scored a goal which looked well offside 3-1 wilmslow then right from kick off the ball out to lee who scored a craking goal only for them to say it was over 3-2 to wilmslow coz it was in !wilmslow then went 4-2 up with a goal given that looked over ! then danny bates scored a great goal from the best move of the match 4-3 wilmslow ! then 5 mins later danny bates got his second a great shot looped there goalie but they said it was over the bar ! it was in 4-4 ! seriously though a draw was a fair result and both teams agreed given the circumstances no nets markings ect ! good look to wilmslow town u/18s in the umbro cup and thanx for the game alex ! PS new york not the best game we have played but great performance aginst a older age group team well done lads !

New york fight out a well deserved 1-1 draw away at tameside stadium against a top reddish & district side curzon ashton ! in a even 1st half new york reduced curzon to long range efforts with new york hitting then on the brake and crving out 3 great chances hitting the post with one of em.........into 2nd half same again curzon pressurising with new york containing and hitting them on the brake ...where on 65 mins joel torkington finished off a great move down the left with a dink round the keeper and a simple shot into the net on the keepers left side...danny bates should of made it 2-0 but was just unlucky shooting across the net.....curzon kept the pressure on and got a deserved equaliser there pressure deserved with a craking left footed shot into roof of net on 85 mins 1 both sides came close to scoring a winner but ended in a draw and a fair result..well done new york and thanks to brian & curzon for a good game of footy

new york entered into the curzon ashton cup ! which will serve as a warm up event preceding the umbro cup ! that will take place on a sunday and the date should be announced in next couple of weeks........dont forget lads back in trainig tues 9th june 7-8.30pm right up to umbro cup with a couple of friendlys lined up aswell.......

new york have a new page which will focus on the umbro cup 2009 and new yorks progress ! with fixtures results reports tables ect when the event starts on july 29th

new york back in training next week after folding 3 months ago........for there final appearance in umbro international cup end july/aug before closure as a junior football team for good.........

Myself and new york learnt so much from you and curzon ashton u/16s in our meetings which we carried into the league ! your a credit to grassroots and i was honoured to have shared some great memories in the tournaments . keep up the good work bryan and maybe someday i will bring another new york side your way....bye for now and good luck in the county cup and reddish cup

Mark just thought I would drop you a line. Keep up the good work somewhere your a great guy with great ideas. Dont stop you have a lot to offer football an it will be a worse sport without you in it. I always felt you were an honest person. All the best pall keep intouch.

I cant overstate the impact you and new york had when you arrived on the scene and well done but you will be missed and memories of our 2-2 draw are still with me and what a great little side you had good luck mark

mark what you and new york rovers brought to the smjfl was fantastic and a breath of fresh air and your website was second to none. You will be sadly missed and good luck in what ever you do because you and new york will be long remembered for what you did for junior football and the smjfl
