Unfortunately due the extreme weather conditions ? it has been decided by the event organisers that the remaining fixtures will be void indefinately ' and just when new york have there finest hour in the umbro cup by winning there first ever group match and maybe a chance to go further ' fate has dealt new york another cruel blow !! to go with 2009 in general........hard luck boys and i wish you all the best in the future, be it in football or out ? With all teams now seeded off the results on the first day of the original format ? New york have been seeded in the higher group c which is a compliment but maybe just to bigger of a ask in the sense we now have five fixtures over the shorter 20mins each way per game ! and against overhall stronger opposition.... |

Jks justrzebie 1 New york rovers 0 This was a close game as the scorline shows and very unlucky on new york who succumbed to a awful penalty decision after 5 mins, 1-0 to justrzebie and undeserved ! but throughout the game nothing between the sides with new york giving as good as they got and on 50mins hit the post ! but try as we did it just was not going to be our day with missed chances and a unlucky penalty against us being the key fact in this very close game. |

Stretford vics 5 New york rovers 0 As the scorline suggests against one of the best teams at the umbro a bridge to far ! but it could of been a different story if matt knowles and joel torky put away two great chances in the first ten mins ! coz to be honest we were the better team by far.But as is with all the strong teams they just calmly soaked up the pressure and got back into the game ! again by way of a penalty 1-0 to vics up til half time and maybe desrved on the balance of play ! Into second half and we were now tiring after giving our all and vics started to play some great passing and were were strugling at times to deal with it, and by the hour had gone 4-0 to the good with 2 good goals and another penalty.....New york had there moments in the game and hit the post on two occasions, with there manager saying to me it was not a 5-0 game and new york just didnt have the rub of the green......vics did score another goal right on full time whistle to run out well deserved winners |

New york 0 St lawrence 5 Again as the scorline suggests a tough game ! To be honest watching them lose 1-0 earlier on to de la salle i thought they were unlucky and new we were going to have problems with there pace ! although they did look shaky at the back which give us a slight chance maybe ! again we conseeded a penalty to go 1-0 down after ten mins which seemed to deflate us for a while ? we did have quite a few chances but just could not put them away and down 1-0 at half time ! into second half and st lawrence scored two quick gaols on the break to go 3-0 to the good , But new york were having chances themselves and was awarded a penalty on 40mins ! zak gray not your first choice of a penalty taker grabbed the ball and we paid the price with a tame effort which the keeper had no probs in saving ! chance gone and with it any chance of a comeback ! we just seemed to give up then and coceeded to tired goals....a comprehensive defeat to a fast team.. |

De la salle 2 New york rovers 2 (goals W cartwright,N ditchburn) Dela salle had won all there games on tues aswell as there 1st three in the new group yesterday and need a win to secure the title over stretford vics ! Step in new york down to a bare eleven and backs to the wall.....this de la salle were overheard disgussing how many goals they were going to get ! on the back of new yorks bad result aginst a team they beat 1-0 ! i new we would have a better chance against these coz like i say st lawrence were a better team in my oppinion ! Into the game and new york with no subs but a team that had been threatening throughout this tournament to get going ! de la salle looked a bit complacent early in the game Cocky if you like thinking it was only a matter of time but the minute we got going only misfortune could dictate the result of this game coz new york put them under pressure right from the word go and de la salle were taken out of there comfort zone and up another lavel if you want and one they had no answer to ? step inthe ref and unbelievably another penalty against new york and 1-0 down on ten mins ! but i wasnt worried coz we were the better side and as in our first ever win on tuesday we were up for this ! chance after chance with no luck was squandered by new york along with some great defending by new york coz dela salle when all said the best team on show resultswise and need to win to secure the title... ? new york then created a great move down the right thru luke farrow and matt knowles into there box were dave knowles was brought down ! Peanalty to new york ? up steps will catwright who gave the goalie no chance with a bullet into the net 1-1 and deserved ! step in the cheating linesman of de la salle who flagged a throwing there way when it was for all to see except the ref a new york throwing ! fate dealt us a terrble blow by outright cheating by this guy ! coz a long throwing into the box was deflected into th new york net we were gutted 2-1 to de la salle on 25mins and stayed like that til half time! Into second half and new york were laying seize to de la salle in there half and there gaol keeper made a great one handed save from will cartwright into top left corner on 50 mins and from the resulting corner nathan ditchburn lashed a wicked spinning shot past a outstretched keeper into the back of the net 2-2 and well desrved by new york ! we now began to pin them back with chance after chance but it wasnt to be the what would have been a great win by new york who i suppose were denied a win by a blatent outright cheating decision by one sad man who couldnt accept his team were second best by far.....but a draw in some way compansated coz de la salle lost the title which im sorry for " the players ! coz they were sporting ! but payback for the lone cheating lineman.....Well done new york a great performance against a great side ! PS thnx to the gracious stretford vics players for there support |

Crewe terriers 3 New york rovers 0 A bit of a anti clamax new york just could not recover with a bare eleven given we put so uch into the last game ! unfortunately this game limped to a stanstill with new york just to tired in the end ? conceeding three late goals in a game where mistakes gifted both teams countless chances with crewe taking 3 of there's ! a sad finish to a umbro cup that was unfortunately ruined by the weather ? but overall New york having posted there first win in the group stages' only for it to be void ? did end up claiming there first ever point after three years of trying and against a top team ! so on that basis massive improvement on last year ! thankx to all the players that represented new york this year ! and who know's maybe one day in the future we will return to what is by far the worlds best youth tounament ! cya |

Kells blackwater FC 3 New york rovers 0 New york kick off the umbro cup with a tough game against a irish team unbeaten in there league this season ! this was a a tough even game until Kells had a man sent off after going 1-0 up with a great strike on 20 mins ! even with new york struggling to get there game going we were still matching them for everything other than the final ball H-T 1-0 to kells. Into second half new york having the advantage couldnt make it count ? and to make matters worse matt knowles was then sent off ! kells went on to score a second with a bad defensive error by new york and a batent offside ! But in fairness to kells blackwater " even with them timewasting through out the game and feigning injuries after going 1-0 up ? they deserved there victory on there better passing display all in all ' and have no complaints we were beaten by the better side on the day..... |

Breaks 147 1 New york rovers 2 (goals L farrow.D bates ) New yorks first ever win in the umbro cup group stages in 3yrs . But it wasnt easy by any means ? again a even type game with bith sides threatening ! then on 10 mins a penalty given against new york for shirt pulling ....Breaks 147 duely scored from the pen " 1-0 to breaks. New york had one or two great chances hitting the post on one occasion but it wasnt going in H-T 1-0 to breaks 147. Into second half new york from then on put full pressure on breaks and it was only a matter of time which come by way of a penalty ! luke farrow stepped up to equalise for new york 1-1 ! new york then upped the anti and overan breaks147 at times and the winner was definately on the cards ! question being when ? step up danny bates who was a nightmare down the left and he cut inside and smashed a unstopable shot from just inside the box into the far right of the net ! 2-1 to new york who still continued to dominate the last ten mins to run out 2-1 and well deserved winners. |

Borgen IL/Klofta 3 New york rovers 1 (goal,Z gray) A much improved performance than last year against a very good footballing & energetic side from europe ! this was a very keenly contested game with new york taking the lead 1-0 to the break and missing some gilt edged scoring chances which cost us bigtime ! |

Newington rangers 4 New york rovers 0 In the end defending to far up the pitch against two strikers who were rapid cost us this game ! they were 4-0 up after 20 mins suicide ! coz for the next 40 mins we hit the bar post the lot on several occasions with newington pinned back for long periods in second half ! |

Moorside rangers 6 new york 1 ( goal R robertson) Played these lot last year and got beat 7-1 so bit of a improvement ! The match started on the show pitch and was 0-0 after 15 mins when new york were awarded a penalty ! but before it was taken the ref stopped the match and we were moved to another pitch to start the game again ! terrible handling of situation. But like last year very physical and dirty team from manchester who screamed for everything ! game was stopped when we equalised and stewards called in which summed up game really ! awful side |

Yellow knife fury 1 New york rovers 0 A team from canada and a good honest footballing side ! this was a close game with new york unlucky to lose in the end coz we finished the stronger but things just didnt go our way ! but great game of footy to be involved in. |

Aspull juniors 5 New york rovers 2 (goals,R robertson,L preston) As it was " new yorks last game in umbro this year with no sporting plate ! and against a team who were top and only concede 2 goals and scored a hatfull in process what a cracking game this was ! they fielded there subs for 1st ten mins then had to bring there full squad on coz new york were ripping them to pieces in the first ten mins " going a goal up ! aspull got in front 2-1 just before the break ! but new york hadnt finished and equalised early in 2nd half 2-2 and all over them ! but new york just couldnt convert the host of chances into goals ans with tens mins to go aspull were awarded a penalty !luke farrow was in net for us coz goalie was injured.....they scored which ripped the heart out of new york and aspull managed to get 2 more before full time ! great perfomance with no return......well done lads and overall improvement on last year defensively and attack wise ! seeya 2009 |

New york rovers 1 De la salle 4 (goals N Ditchburn) Semi Final sporting plate ! A bit tough on new york coz we only had a 20 min break after our quarter final game " and had to face a team who were fresh coz they had got a bye in quarters ! But if ever a team needed help on a field be it luck and decisions that team was de la salle ! coz new york had them on the rack throughout this semi final ! we had 2 perfectly good goals dissallowed and they had two debatable penalties ! but in the end if you dont put your chances away ( and a host of chances at that ) you pay for it 1....PS summing up the tournament ! a great experience for the team and learnt a lot in a short time and finished the competition well.......well done boys and be back next year for what is a great event ! |
