New York Rovers 1 Norbury Athletic 2......I must admit as a manager i was in two minds whether or not to pospone this fixture given our key defender was seriously injured against new mills in a friendly last sunday and our other rock of a defender was still carrying a injury !Plus not to mention the strange decision to appoint a norbury u/16s player to ref the game ! maybe i should of given that this was our final game and we needed to win to keep the pressure on sandringham ! even though we have won the title coz sandringham can only get to 26 pts now because of bramhall countys folding ! but we are now playing a injured player and to our cost no doubt today ! having said that this was a cracker of a game and both teams got at eachother from the off with norbury getting into there stride slightly better than new york ! but it was apparent after ten or fifteen minutes we were not playing as we should " and jake crawley was struggling and came off on 20mins which meant we now had to see out the game with ten men ! having said that we were threatening each other equally up to the 18yrd box with norbury looking the better side in my oppinion...early on ! both sides had one or half chances early on with new yorks keeper saving from a point blank effort from a norbury attack " then on 20 mins matt knowles nearly put new york ahead when he turned a norbury defender on the edge of the box and hit a cracking shot from a acute angle which hit the post ! norbury though were not letting new york settle into any sorta rhythm and cought us on the brake a couple of times......they had one or two good chances to score but we stood firm at the back plus new yorks goalie was having his usual game ! new york created one or two other chances in between ! but then on 30mins norbury player recieved the ball just outside the centre circle ! and in one movement chested the ball down and hit a straight 35 yard rising rocket at what seemed a 100MPH into the roof of our net ! what a screamer and william our goalkeeper which i think is one of the beat goalkeepers playing in the metro league had know chance ! 1-0 to norbury and deservedly so on the balance of play !we had a chance to level with a cracking shot outside the box from zak gray but there keeper was equal to it and tipped it over....thats how it remained at H-T 1-0 to norbury . Into the second half same story norbury threatening with some nice play and new york still not into any sorta rhythm ! then on 50mins norbury broke down the middle and into our box where they slotted the ball home to go 2-0 up ! that seemed to be the green light for new york to step it up coz to be honest no way did we deserve to be 2-0 down even with ten men ! sure enough we started to go for broke anyway which way but loose ! we started to pressure norbury and the prassure paid off on 60 mins with a goal from a ball passed into norburys area where james lewis tapped it into the net 2-1 to norbury ! new york were now a bigger threat and started to pin norbury back into there half .....reducing norbury to the odd counter attack ! then on 65mins new york back to what there good at playing some nice footy " attacked down the right with the ball played through to matt knowles who had a shot at goal ! keeper made a good save but parried the ball out to new york player ant fletcher out on the left who shot passed a stranded keeper 2-2 so we thought.....but it was ruled out for offside and no way was it offside coz the ball was knocked out by there keeper ! terrible decision by the ref . In the last 10 mins new york did everything they could to try and win this game " we had one or two great chances but just could not get the ball in the net ! i brought our goalie out of net for josh lewis coz he got pace and he had one chance and set one up in the last 5mins " but it was not to be and norbury had sent new york to only there second defeat in the last game of the season which was harsh on new york ! coz we tried very hard today in some ways against the odds ten men dont help and credit to norbury in a crackin clean game. But my last words for new york ! although we ended the season on a losing note you lads can hold your heads high and say in our first season we have compeated fairly with no bookings or sendings off and no cheating or biased home reffing ! New York Rovers 21 Chaple Town Juniors 0 ! First of all i would just like to say forget the scoreline this victory was a strnge one given it was 9 players V 9 players the reason being chaple town only had 9 players so as a coach 11 v 9 was not going to be a contest of any sort which was a headache to me given that we still have a slim chance of winning the title but knowing we still wanted some sort of fair game ! we who had a full squad of 12 players agreed to play 9 v 9 with the option of putting a extra player on if we were losing ! It gave us a advantage but not a massive one as such ! its pointless trying to right a report on the game but what i will say is ! i would have no problem working with the nine chaple town players who turned up " because they are a credit to junior football in every sense of the word. they could of just come here to defend and stink the game out but not chaple town they came here to play good honest football ! and i know they were prepared to take our full team on and im not being patronising when i say that ! and to be honest threatened on the very rare occasion to actually score from open play ! there was not a foul or dirty play of any sort in the game ! and to be honest it was like a kickabout in the park between mates given the lack of players on the field ! but there was some nice things on show from new york who will rip teams apart if allowed any space at all in games which obviously was going to be hard not to given 9v9. my final words are left for chaple town who in all honesty put to shame some of the teams we have played at junior level ! new york are here for just simple honest football and yes we have only a small squad ! but even me and my team have to take a bow to the grace & sportsmanship chaple brought to new york today . Cheadle & Gatley B 1 New York Rovers 2! First of all id just like to say to sens a message to the 2 new york players that did not even bother to turn up or even phone to say why they wasnt at the game ! you have let the side down badly and should be ashamed of leaving your team with a bare 11 second string side ! to face title rivals C&g. For just the reasons above and playing on a big pitch this was going to be a tough game ! and so it turned out to be. cheadle got at us right from the start and after ten minutes it became apparent we were gonna be up against it with a makshift side formation wise ! they were pressurising us to the point of some desperate defending early on ! we were struggling with the size of the pitch ! they were getting down the flanks and putting some dangerous balls in ! but we were somehow coping with it. on 12 minutes they were awarded a debatable penalty which they converted 1-0 to c&g and on the balance of play deserved ! new york were still struggling to get to grips with the game and any break we got was quickly snuffed out from c&gs defence and we were struggling to get to grips with the midfield but we kept going even though we were continually forced on the back foot ! c&g were merciless in there assault and were creating some chances, with new york reduced to the odd breakaway thats how the first half continued ! then on 30mins c&g broke into new yorks and was awarded a cast iron penalty ! im thinking its tough enough stopping them without giving penalties away with it ! fortunately for us they missed the penalty " but i wouldnt of argued if they had scored it coz on the balance of play it could of been 2 or 3 nil , but new york kept going ! H-T score 1-0 to c&g. into the second half with no subs to call on ! and c&g having the luxury of 5 subs. One thing new york never do is give up and sooner or later we were going to get to grips with this game hopefully ! we started to compete a bit better right away in the second half and were begining to threaten c&g in the final third ! then 5 mins into the second half new york got the brake there never say die attitude deserved... we broke down the left side and entered there area were luke farrow picked up a 50/50 ball ! dinked one of there defenders and smashed a volley into the top corner passed there stranded keeper 1-1 game on ! we were now startin to make inroads into the game and started to create one or two half chances ! dont get me wrong c&g we still dangerous and forced a great save out of our keeper ! also having a great oppertunity in front of net only to sky it ! but new york were now starting to put c&g on the back foot in spells ! noticable by the free kicks we were being awarded in the centre of the park ! we were now hitting c&g from all sides and giving them no time on the ball ! we seemed to have got use to the pitch sizewise ! then on 70 mins luke farrow broke down the right with a cracking pass from matt knowles ! got in shooting range and let fly only for there defender to get in the way ! but the ball rebounded back to him and he let fly again past a stranded keeper " only for the ball to whisk past the post a great chance missed. i suppose it would of been easier to come here today and sit back and defend ! which more than likely would of snuffed out c&g and the game but im a believer in good teams being allowed to ply there trade ! everything was on show here today! a very strong attack minded C&G against a patient NYR. we had to risk losing by going for the win ! knowing that a draw would more or less put us out of the title race ! we just kept going and going then with 2mins to go ! what seemed like the inevitable came based on our second half performance ! matt knowles recieved the ball out on the left side of there box...held off two challenges before entering there box ! where he was innitially fouled ! the ref put his whistle up to his mouth ....looking like he was going to give a penalty ! but he saw matt knowles had shrugged off the foul and allowed him to go on and hit a cracking left footed rocket into the bottom corner of the net ! 2-1 to new york ! and on the face of the second half deserved ! we noe needed to protect this lead with 2 mins to go " Not new york ! we went for broke ! hitting the bar with a looping volley by james lewis and another cracking shot by matt knowles which missed by inches ! full time whistle went and 2-1 win for new york. In summing up this match ! c&g will be dissapointed not to have capitalised on there first half performance and will rue the penalty miss ! but new yorks performance given we had no subs and a depleated side out ! even the most ardent spectator would not begrudge new york victory today ! yes we rode our luck a bit today ! and im sure c&g will be very dissapointed on there first half display not to have taken both points ! but the same could be said of new york on there second half performance if we had lost ! anyway thanks for a great game c&g and good luck for the rest of the season. and not least thanks to the new york 11 today for there never die spirit ! Bramhall County 0 New York Rovers 5! A game carried out on a just passable pitch with a strong wind and another clean sheet! not the best playing conditions. right from kick off though we took the game to bramhall ! and took the lead 1fter 2 mins with a great finish by zak grey ! new york were pulling bramhall all over the pitch with there nice passing and wing play ! we were creating chance after chance but there goalkeeper was equal to the task ! then on 18 mins matt knowles recieved a great through ball on the left where he then ran through clinically finshed with a low hard placed shot past there keeper ! 2-0 to new york ! we were really on the ascendcy now with no let up , Then on 25 mins luke farrow whipped in a wicked bending cross from the right wing and it took a slight deflection on its way into the net ! 3-0 to new york....we had loads more chances to increase the score but thats how it stayed 3-0 to new york at half time ! we were missing one of our key defenders like last week so we had to change the formation ! but we were comfortable but we were now facing the wind into the second half no problem with the wind at the moment coz we just kept going ! creating chances but not finishing em ! then josh lewis who came on at half time broke through into there box and shot past there keeper 4-0 to new york ! but as in the chinley game and a couple or otheres this season when coasting to victory the lads think its then time to go on a goal hunting spree ! forgetting about playing football and being greedy not passing and out of position ! of course i dont know nothing im just the manager ! anyway we nearly reeped the benifits for disrespecting bramhall county ! coz they hit us on the brake a couple of times and should of reduced the arrears but they just had no luck with them today ! but the proud record of not conceding a goal in three league games on the trot was looking under pressure! even though we were creating loads of chances it was worrying especially against a strong wind coz bramhall were using the strong wind and hoofing it down the middle! but we then scored our fifth on 71 mins with some nice play into the box with luke farrow getting on to the end of a anthony fletchr shot to tap it in 5-0 to new york ! we created a couple more chances but thats how the game finished 5-0 to new york ! PS a great first half performance but a terrible second half performance coz the players think they know it all and were not listening ! one or two of our players think they are better than they are ! well there not and our strengh is playing as a team passing and getting wide ! if we dont stick to it we will struggle against every team we play ! so think on boyz. but a wins a win and you must be congradulated on the score ! but be very careful lads coz there is still a lot of work to be put in yet ! good luck to bramhall county for the reat of the season who put in a great spirited second half performance with no return ! New York Rovers 0 Sandringham Rovers 0. Well who would of forcast this ! a goaless game between the top two sides in the league position wise at the moment. the first time both these sides have ever failed to score in a league game ! both teams had a couple of good chances to score from inside the box scrambled effortwise ,but on 20 mins matt knowles should of scored when clean through one on one with the best move of the match! but he just hesitated and there goalie blocked his shot !then 5 mins later we agian opened sandringham up with josh lewis through and bearing down on goal ! he was brought down just before entering sandringhams box by what looked like there last man ! straight red usually but not even a booking ! it would of been harsh if the ref had sent him off , but another chance thwarted , other than that it was end to end stuff with the goalkeepers and defence cleaning up most of the attacks by both sides, this was the story of the first half 0-0 at half time.second half went the same way ! a couple of close offside decisions when we broke through there backline ! and two worrying moments with sandringhams two point blank scrambled efforts in our six yard box . which our keepers eventually dealt with ! other than that it was the same as the first half no real clear cut chances created for both sides! then with 15 mins left both teams which is a credit to them decided to go for broke ! knowing there was a risk of being caught on the brake. and what a last nervy 15 mins it was for everyone watching ! cup tie stuff ! sandringham had soft shot which spooned across the face of our goal and scuffed the outside of the post ! then new york replied with what looked like the winner ! only for there goalkeeper to make a fantastic save and tip it over the bar ! worrying moments for both side who at anytime looked on the verge of conceding a late goal with last ditch defending by both sides then both breaking with the long balls from the keepers. the final whistle blew full time 0-0 ! im guessing both teams were taken out of there comfort zones today ! with new york being pressured throughout the 80 mins and likewise sandringham the same ! with not many guilt edged scoring chances by both sides , which was a credit to both teams ! on summing up the game, we had one of our key big defenders out today which meant a sacrifice in midfield ! which maybe restricted our attacking options ! but i dont think it would have stopped the pressure sandringham put on us ! but it did not help our attaking options from midfield up ! just a shame in a big game like this we couldnt field our ideal starting side! PS in summing up this game ! i think both teams and coaches aswell learnt a lot from this game today in as maybe we both did not bring a game to beat each other ! now i think that may of been down to the fact that both teams could not settle into there stride given it was relentless pressure for 80 mins ! and both teams could have conceded at any time in the game given that new york or sandringham could not establish any sort of control in the game ! something which will stand teams in good stead for the future hopefully ! we certainly aint faced total non stop pressure with limited chances in any game ! and im guessing maybe sandringham like wise ! the eccentric looking ref who did a fantastic job said after the game he aint reffed a game like that for years and was the best nil nil draw he had ever taken part in ( mabe a bit over the top ) but know where hes coming from. anyway great game and a cast iron draw by two strong sides ! well done to chris and sandringham amd good luck for the run in. and a great performance by new york who remain 3pts clear of sandringham at top. High Lane Juniors 0 New York Rovers 3. This fixture was played at new yorks home pitch ! and the only difference between the teams on the day was the scoreline ! make no mistake this game was even all the way through ! we reffed the game between us which is difficult when you should be organising and giving instructions to your own team ! both teams started attacking right from the off ! new york maybe just slightly more dangerous in the final third than high lane ! then on 14 mins new yorks keeper took a goal kick and the wind carried it into the middle of high lanes half , where josh lewis ran through onto it and shot past there keeper ! 1-0 to new york and a good start ! there were shouts off offside not so sure about the reasons for it ! the game was being played at a decent pace ! with new york trying to walk the ball into goal rather than have a shot now and again. then on 20mins high lane got themselves into a shooting position and one of there players let fly with a rocket which beat our keeper and crashed against the bar ! phew lucky escape ! that had goal written all over it. high lane were playing some good football ! there passing at times pulling new york all over the place in midfield ! new york just could not get to grips and control the midfield ! but high lane for all there good football just could not really penetrate a resilient new york defence who were defending high up the pitch and making it difficult for high lane to capitalise on some of there nice passing.the game was still evenly poised with both teams threatening up to the 18yrd boxes ! but with new york slightly more dangerous with there through balls ! and on 35 mins new york extended there lead with a matt knowles run through and a shot past the stranded keeper ! 2-0 to new york and maybe slightly unjust on high lane ! thats how stayed 2-0 to new york at HT . into the second half change of referee but made no difference to the tempo of the game ! with both teams playing some nice footy and good defending ! but i did detect a slight swing in pressure to high lane ! who were now starting to pin new york back in spells ! they were chasing the game and making a good job of it , aswell thwarting our attacks ! they were getting one or two corners and posing problems along with a couple of last ditch saves by our keeper ! But as much as high lane were threatening they just could not create any clear cut chances as was the case in the first half ! even in high lanes best spells of the game !new york were always threatening to widen the margin ! there goalkeeper somehow saving and getting in the way of several chances in the box by new york. but finally on 90 mins new york put the nail in high lanes coffin with callum neil smashing a shot from inside high lanes area into the top righthand corner ! 3-0 to new york on fulltime whistle. in summing up this game ! there were three fouls in the whole game ! 2 unitentional handballs and one of backing into another player ! great game to ref ! and was refereed with no bias what so ever and fair. High lane on reflection and over eighty mins ! had the game to beat us today ! but were found wanting in the final third overall ! new york on the other hand today were not as fluent ! something missing and im not detracting from high lanes performance ! even if we were on form it would of meant no difference. good luck to high lane for the rest of the season! again make no mistake ! without disrespect to the other sides in this league ! high lane are maybe the only team that brought a game to new york on the pitch which was good enough and deserving of victory against us ! dont get me wrong we as strong as them , but goals are part of the game and we managed three ! well done to a shade lucky new york. Disley Juniors 0 New York Rovers 5 . Given that both teams, more so disley had not played a league match for what seems like a eternity ! this was going to be a toss up on match fitness alone, for two sides reknown for playing good honest, passing football !and right from the off both teams had decided to attack each other, knowing the first goal in the game would be crucial, given the fact they play a simular type game , passing there way to goal ! end to end stuff with both goalkeepers and there defence thwarting attemps in front of goal, and not a sniff of up and under hoofing to be seen ! this was good football and it was a bit nervy watching as a manager ! the game was on a knife edge for the first 15 mins ! then new york broke from there own half and callum niel put a great ball through for matt knowles to run onto, and hold there last man off and fire a low drive past there keeper ! 1-0 to new york after 15 mins then almost right from kick off ! disley broke down our right up to the edge of the box and one of there players let fly with a cracking shot which crashed in against the crossbar ! with william our goalie reacting the quiker to retrieve the ball. New york were now starting to put just a bit more pressure on disley and were starting to create one or two good chances ! but there goalkeeper was having a great game ! disley were still very dangerous on the attack though ! but then on 25 mins we got the ball up " just outside there box ! with zak gray eventually creating a bit of room for himself to fire a wicked swaying shot past there goalies left side and into the net, 2-0 to new york ! i think it hurt disley the second goal and they seemed to be flagging slightly ! we were now starting to close disley down a bit ! but still creating one or two chances ! but as is the case with good footballing sides ! they never know when they are beaten ! we were trying to keep disley at arms lengh for the duration of the half ! but then on 35 mins disley broke down our left with some nice passing and one of there players entered into our box , where he was brought down ! penalty to disley " im thinking ere we go again ! there penalty was hit along the ground low and to our keepers tigh on the post ! but somehow william stretched and got a finger to it ! eventually gathering it up in his arms ! a great save from a well taken penaly. it ended 2-0 to new york at HT ! we carried on in the second half how we finished the first ! pressurising disley and creating one or two half chances and forcing a couple of saves off there keeper ! disley were now reduced to the odd brake away but still a threat ! and on the hour luke farrow recieved a ball on the right side of there box and let fly across there keeper into to corner of the net ! 3-0 to new york! we were now controlling the midfield a bit more then disley and coping with disleys attacks ! on 65 mins we were awarded a penalty and curtis pemberton scored from the spot kick with a placed powerful shot which there keeper got his outstretched hand to but could save it ! 4-0 to new york ! in the last ten mins we created a few one on ones with there keeper ! but he was equal to the task ! but then on 75 mins josh lewis broke into there box down the left and shot past there keeper ! 5-0 to new york and thats how it finished at the final whistle. a great performance by new york against a disley side who had one or two players out with injury coupled with lack of match fitness ! having said that they put up a fight early on ! but with new york being able to play there strongest squad for only the second time this season ! it all went for a in the end ! convincing victory ! good luck for the rest of the season disley ! and jez u got a great little promising side there mate ! love the way you play your footy. and not least of all ! well done to new york. New York Rovers 5 Chinley Juniors 0! I think the biggest difference in this game ! as opposed to the away fixture was the pitch ! both teams could at least get back to playing football on a better surface .and right from kick off new york got into there stride playing some nice football ! with chinley coping with us comfortably ! but not putting us under the same pressure as in the last game ! the longer the game went on the more threatening new york become ! and on 15 mins new york took the lead with some nice link up play down the left ! ending up with matt knowles recieving a ball just inside the area, and shooting from point blank range ! 1-0 to new york. we were now starting to settle down into our stride ! but all the time chinley were dangerous ! playing balls in from the wings to there midfielders, who on a couple of occasions played some nice through balls to there forwards, which we had to defend. but new york were now creating one or two good chances themselves ! But we could not put the chances away ! chinley were still threatenig at times! and had a couple of good half chances in between ! forcing two good saves by our keeper ! then new york on 25 mins from a resulting corner from the right ! found zak gray outside the box, and he hit a low shot down to the goalies left ! unfortunately the ball bobbled through the goalies hands ! 2-0 to new york ! felt sorry for the keeper who was playing well. new york were dominating play now ! but coupled with our failiure to finish and good goalkeeping , thats how the score stayed ! H-T new york 2 chinley 0. the second half started the same way as the end of the first half ! with new york pressurising , but with no reward ! but all the time chinley were still trying to find a way past our defence . i was still worried a 2 goal lead was not gonna be enough ! we were creating chances but not capitalising on them ! we scraped there righthand post a couple of times with shots in the box ! but there goalkeeper was playing great along with there defence. Then on the hour we were attacking and created a great chance which josh lewis couldnt put away ! and from the resulting goal kick ! chinley got the ball in midfield, put some nice passes toghether and we found ourselves outnumbered at the back 4 against 2 ! we now had to be careful because they are a good side and dangerous they nearly pulled a goal back inthis attack where they hit the outside of the post luckily for new york! but to be fair to new york we composed ourselves after that close shave and just as chinley had done to us in the last 15 20 mins at there place ! we did to them. we were now in the ascendency pressurwise and football wise ! and on 65 mins the pressure paid off with matt knowles getting his second and new yorks third with a good finish inside the box ! we really had chinley under the cosh now ! with them more or less pinned back in ther area. apart from the odd breakaway ! But then on 70 mins, just after missing 2 point blank chances in front of net ! Luke farrow finally scored with a determined never say die effort in there box ! 4-1 to new york ! chinley kept going though ! but new york were unforgiving and were starting to put away there chances !and on 75 mins james lewis hit the target inside the box ! 5-0 to new york, and thats how it finished. A great performance by new york ! who just had a bit more than chinley where it counted, but make no mistake we had to work hard for this victory, because chinley are a side who play some nice football and are a very capable side. and it was only in the last 20 mins that we really got on top chinley . new york & chinley are maybe 2 of the smaller sides in this league physically wise ! but we dont give up and always try to play football. Chinley Juniors 3 New York Rovers 2! well it had to happen sometime !But lets be honest though, football was never going to be on the menu " but a good mud bath was ! along with two outrages dissolowed goals by the home referee we were now faced with a different game all toghether ! one we have not had the displeasure of being involved as yet. It was pointless trying to play the passing game ! but thats all we know ! and it was our worst enemy and eventually undid us in the end along with the terrible bias reffin ! in the first half we were by far the stronger team creating some great chances ! with chinley not really causing us any probs ! and having two perfectly crafted goals ruled out for offside ?? how you can be offside when you pull a ball back to a oncoming player who thens scores is beyond me ! eventually we took a deserved lead on 30mins with a looping shot outside the box from anthony fletcher ! but we were now beggining to flag with the conditions..... chinley were starting to cope better and on 38 mins they equalised H-T 1-1 ! unjust on new york who had put everything into the 1st half and should of been 3-1 up at the break ! into the second half minus two of our best players and a squad of just 10 outfield players to call on ! we were starting to tire rapidly ! and chinley were now starting to pressurise us which was a conscern knowing that we was not getting anything off the ref in this game ! we were shot as a team but somehow we kept going and took a 2-1 lead with a shot inside the box from james lewis on 65 mins ! 2-1 to new york and a well deserved lead in the conditions ! but all the time , chinley were becoming more dangerous, and started to hit us down the flanks with some nice play ! the pressure had to tell at some point and it did on 70 mins ! they equalised with a shot inside the box 2-2 ! and on relection of the second half a deserved goal by chinley ! we were now shattered tired and flagging badly..... then 5 mins later the what was coming and unthinkable happened ! again a ball down the left crossed into our box ..... a few seconds of skittles in the box and chinley had scored to take the lead 3-2 ! to be honest the writing was on the wall for new york in the last 15 mins ! and although we had a last ditch effort to retrieve the game but it wasnt going to be ! luke farrow did brake through and shot past the keeper to make it 3-3 ! but the ball stopped on the line with there goalie and two of our players froze for several seconds ! the gaol that never was eventually sent new york to there first ever league defeat ! I will not complain against the chinley players victory coz they did there job and never gave up ! But lets be honest even with a threadbare squad new york would of won this game comfortably with a non biased reff ! yes we were told this will happen from time to time and you just have to get on with it ! but it ruins the game at this level and is a horrible way to lose ! and hard luck new york who learnt a harsh lesson today ! in that we will hav these type of people reffin away games! PS we have the chance to put this defeat right with a ref that will do a proper unbisased job at our place this sunday and thats a promise coz thats what New york are all about ! New York Rovers 1 Cheadle & Gatley B 1. This had the hallmarks of a tough game ! and so it proved to be in the sense we just could not put away the countless chances we created. Cheadle are a big side and direct ! and spend more time screaming foul than playing football (what is that all about then)? but we were equal to the task and to be honest the only threat they had were there height and physical presense ! apart from that they had nothing. we got at them right away creating a couple of great one on one chances ! then out of the blue by way of a long ball 15mins in ! they hit the bar with a looping ball . other than that they wernt really causing problems apart from hoofing the ball up outside our box. But to be honest we should have been at least 3 up after 20 mins ! but like last week it was not going in. that was the storey of the first half us creating quite a few chances with them giving us no real problems with the long ball ! so having put cheadle under descent pressure with no return the first half ended 0-0 . in the second half i had to make a couple of changes , but to be honest it wasnt by choice and so it proved ! we were not putting them under the same constant pressure but we were still creating chances with proper football ! and on 50 mins new york took a overdue lead with a matt knowles goal ! a through ball with matt then getting in a good position in front of net and smashing one in past there stranded goalkeeper 1-0 to new york ! cheadle held strong at the back but were still a bit dangerous with the long ball. then with 20 mins to go cheadle brought on two big players for obvious reasons " and they just kept hammering it up looking for some sort of break. but we were coping with there direct approach and still creating some good chances ! then with five minutes to go the unthinkable happened ! cheadle from a long ball got the break there style of play tends to earn. when it was easier for our defending player to hammer it clear " he decided to try and run the ball out ! big mistake . one of there players got the better and got the ball into a position on the edge of the six yard box and stabbed it agonisingly between our goalies legs and into the net 1-1 five minutes to go ! it was the all hands to the pump by new york ! we had a great chance to nick the game twice in the last couple of minutes ! with luke farrow shooting across the goal, only for the ball to go agonisingly wide ! final whistle 1-1 ! but to be honest we should of won this game easy but it was not to be !another great performance by new york accept in front of net . the great news today though is ! we go top outright by 1pt in the 4th div for the fist time ! even with a dropped point against a very lucky cheadle side. PS Sadly the abuse and constent intimidation by c&g linesman and one or two of the c&g players and parents was disgusting and does not belong in the game ! Chaple Town Juniors 0 New York Rovers 2, Well not much to report on in this game ! chaple town had one shot in the game which went a mile over and they never really ventured deep into our half. we went 1-0 up after 25 mins with a zak gray headed goal from a luke farrow corner on the right ! inbtween that we had at least 15 chances to score ! but the ball was not going in today no matter what we did , 1-0 to new york at H-T , second half the same as the first oneway traffic ! but would the ball go in the net ! no, then with 5 mins left matt knowles created a chance for himself out of nothing ! and he blasted the ball in the net giving the goalie no chance ! and keeping his scring in every league game intact ! game over 2-0 to new york ! we didnt play great coz we lost our shape ! players were on this i wanna score trail. we kept going though and missed posting a cricket score with the gilt edged chances we created ! but it was not to be, well done to chaple town who kept going without causing us any problems > not more i can say really except well done new york ! the coach TEAM W Cartwright,Ja Lewis,A Fletcher,N Ditchburn,J Crawley,C Neill,L Farrow,M Fletcher,Z Gray,Jo Lewis,M Knowles |

New York Rovers 7 High Lane Juniors 0! maybe our best performance to date ! not coz of the scoreline either. to be honest the scoreline dont do justice for high lanes performance. but in the end some great performances by a few of our players. we were quickley into our stride this week ! and i think the injustice we suffered at wilmslow albion in the cup was still fresh in our minds ! and high lane were on the end of it. we were moving the ball about good ! and on 10 mins luke put a nice through pass to josh lewis who made no mistake ! 1-0 to new york. then on 20 mins luke again with a great pass down the right to james lewis who made no mistake ! 2-0 to new york . high lane were startin to come into the game a bit more ! they were dangerous on the break with there capable strike force ! they had a shot which hit the bar and william our goalie made a unbelievable save from a point blank shot ! but all the time we were in control possession wise ! and on 25 mins we were three 3-0 up ! again a great run down the right by luke farrow and a perfect cross into the box , where josh lewis met it with a perfect bullet header to claim his second and new yorks third ! on the half hour with some great play between zak gray and luke farrow ! resulted in luke again " whipping a fantastic hip high cross into the box ! where callum neill met it with a perfect volley ! 4-0 to new york ! we were now dictating play with our sleek passing ! which was a joy to watch ! but all the time high were a threat ! and forced two unbelievable saves from our keeper william catwright ! they were very good at hitting us on the break ! but then on 35 mins callum neill recived the ball outside there box and he hit it first time ! but seemed to scuff it which dummied there goalie ! who unfortunately couldnt get back quick enough ! aluckyish goal and new yorks 5th! 5-0 at half time . slightly unfair on high lane but deserved by new yorl ! mark fletcher replaced jake mccormick for the second half ! high lane came out fighting ! the game had settled down compared to the fist half ! nothin really happening of sorts ! both defences canceling each other out ! but then on the hour high lane capitalised on a throwin mistake by us near there box ! and thay hit us on the break bigstyle with some great passing through midfield ! which resulted in them nearly scoring by hitting the bar! it was our turn to soak some pressure up coz high lane were not giving out up today without a fight ! but unfortunately for them when we hit em on the brake we scored a great flick on header by mark fletcher to matt knowles who left there defence for dead ! which resulted in matt rifling a bullet goal into the back of there net ! to keep his record of scoring in every league game intact ! high lane were still dangerous and forced several great saves out of william cartwright ! but then on 75 mins mattknowles returned the favour to mark fletcher by way of a flick on header ! to which he calmly slid it past the oncoming keeper ! that made it 7-0 to new york ! and thats how it stayed til the final whistle ! In summing up ! a great effort with some great football on show ! high lane made us work hard and the scoreline was a bit harsh on them ! but a great result for new york a ! and deserved . good luck to high lane who came to play (football) for tghe rest of the season. ps a great refereeing performance ! New York Rovers 3 Bramhall County 1! another close game as the scorline suggests ! and to be honest (no disrespect to bramhall county) ! we seem to be our own worst enemies, in making the game hard for ourselves at the moment " but there again it is getting our fitness levels up ! this game was no different to the other three league games we have been involved in " we seem to rush right into the games with no composure. the first half in general went by with no real threat offered by bramhall ! there were one or two worrying moments for our defence by way of county pumping long balls down the middle ! but new york delt with that reasonably ok ! and were at least trying to keep the ball down and play football" which resulted in new york creating quite a few half chances " but there goalkeeper is maybe the best keeper we have come up against ! and was always just that bit quicker to the ball than our attack (he reads the game well countys keeper)! new york eventually took the lead with a shot inside the box from matt knowles " 1-0 to new york ! we created a couple more chances " but the score stayed like that ! 1-0 to new york at half time! which on the balance of play was deserved . zach gray and james lewis came on for the second half ! and it made a big difference by way of ! we started to pass the ball ! zach making a big difference with his passing ! his through balls we starting to open up bramhalls defence ! with matt knowles and luke farrow making some great runs onto zach passing , But all the time bramhall were still a threat with the long ball down the middle ! and on 50 mins bramhall equalised , with a long ball down the middle ,which one of there players took into the box and had a shot " william our goalie got his hand to it ! but it somehow bobbled and crept into the right side of the net " 1-1 ! that give them a boost ! but all the time new york were carving out half chances, we certainly were having the balance of possession " something had to give ! and it did in the shape of james lewis , who was always a threat down the left ! luke farrow broke free down the right and crossed a ball in to the left side of the box" the ball was brought down into the path of james who knocked it in at the left post ! 10 mins to go New York 2 bramhall 1 ! then right from kick off new york won the ball out on the right luke went into the area had a shot ! then callum niell had a shot knocked off the line ! it just wouldnt go in " then from the resulting short corner ! luke farrow passed to jake crawley " who then crossed it over to the left side ! where james picked it up and stormed into the box and put the ball passed the keeper" to make it 3-1 to new york with 4 mins left " nearly scoring again just before the full time whistle . full time new york 3 bramhall county 1 . another game in which our never say die attitude and strengh went a long way to securing our forth straight win ! and keeping our 100% record intact . well done boys a shaky but well deserved victory in the end ! and a great performance by bramhall county " who will feel hard done by ! coz they will feel they deserved somthing out of this game ! and i wouldnt disagree . unlucky bramhall " but what a great game . And last but not least well done to New York who climb to top spot for first time ever in there history all be it joint with sandringham ! keep it up boys great result ! coach. Sandringham Rovers 2 New York Rovers 3, This wasnt going to be a game for the faint hearted !both sandringham & New york with 100% records ! something had to give. and sure enough right from kick off this was gonna be a of strengh and wit ! i must admit the size of the pitch ( full size ) was going to be a test ! and they sandringham started to hit us down the left ! there left winger was going to be a handful, and sure enough he broke through the right side of the box a couple of times ! luckily for us we somehow managed to thwart off his attacks with a combination of last ditch defending and great goalkeeping ! we were using the full size pitch to our advantage with some nice play down the flanks creating the odd half chance ! but all the time they were dangerous, they were now becoming more direct ! down the middle , and they had two great chances ( one on one ) with our keeper on 20 mins ! but william pulled off two unbelievable point bank saves ! then new york who were always a threat took the lead after 25mins ! luke farrow broke down the right and put a great cross into the area ! and josh lewis met it with a volley , which gave there keeper no chance . Sandringham were still a threat , but there left sided player was slowly but surly not as threatening as he was from the start ! there big centre forward was now the big threat ! they were pumping balls up to him constantly ! but curtis pemberton was equal to the challenge. New york were now putting sandringham under the same pressure we endured in the first 20 mins ! the difference being ! we capitalized on our chances ! and on 30 mins , again we broke down the right and luke won us a corner ! he duely put a wicked shoulder high corner in , which the goalkeeper could only parry into the path of callum niell , who made no mistake from six yards out ! 2-0 to new york ! both teams had chances before the break but thats how it stayed 2-0 to new york at HT. The second half started how the first finished ! with both teams attacking and defending ! end to end stuff, thats how it continued for the first 25 mins of the second half ! then with 15 mins to go zach gray put a great through ball to matt knowles ! who ran on towards there area , but tghere keeper had no option but to come out and somehow try to defend it , but matt smashed a shot in which hit the oncoming keeper ! but unfortunately for the keeper it rebounded off matt knowles! over the keepers head and into the back off the net ! 3-0 to New York and game over surley with 15mins left (SO I THOUGHT) no chance ! Sandringham wasnt gonna lie down ! they kept going ! and with 11 mins left they got a corner out on there left ! it was a great corner in ! and one of there players dived in with head and scored a point blank header ! great goal , and on the balance of play a deserved one . that made it 3-1 to new york ! we then almost right away scored from the kick off , with matt knowles having a great shot just over the bar ! then with 7 mins to go they broke into our area ! with what was a clear offside through ball ! and after a minute of skittles in the area , one of there players hammered a shot through a bunch of players which gave our goalie no chance ! 3-2 to new york ! again from kick off we created a cracking chance with some great play down the left and matt knowles should off finished off a great move to seal it but fumbled his chance . the final whistle seemed to take ages to arrive ! but the ref blew for full time ! New York 3 Sandringham 2 ! Im sure Sandringham will feel they deserved at least draw , maybe a win ! the effort they put in was fantastic ! but im sure they or any neutral would not begrudge New York the victory ! Sandringham through everything but the kitchen sink at us ! but New York to there credit never panicked ! and stuck to there guns of always trying to keep the ball down and play ! to the point we had them reeling at 3-0 down with 11 mins to go ! All in all a great game for the neutral and a great advertisment for the 4th div on the whole ! well done to both teams ! and good luck to sandringham for the rest of the season. My final words are left for New York ! a fantastic effort again boys ! keep it up lads ! your learning all the time ! and your never say die spirit is a credit to you ! New York Rovers 4 Disley Juniors 2. This was going to be another test against unbeaten and 2nd in the league Disley Juniors ! ad so it proved to be.a well spirited disley started the quicker! with new york not being able to string two passes toghether and losing there shape position wise ! this was partly due to the way disley were putting pressure on us right from the kick off ! but also we were not playing well on top of that ! then as seems to be the case with new york at the moment, we nearly shoot ourselves in the foot ! disley broke down the left and entered our area ! then for some strange reason callum niell ! who looked to have the sitution under control , by way of forcing there player to the byeline ! decided to shoulder barge there player off the ball when he was going nowhere ! a penalty was awarded and rightly so, fortunately for us there player put the spot kick wide ! a big let off for new york ! Disley were creating more chances in the first half ! with us creating one or two,we were very lucky not to go in at the break behind ! because on the balance of play Disley shaded the first half, but could not put the ball in the back of the net with the chances they had created ! 0-0 at half time. I had a right go at the team talk ! and told them they were very poor and needed to buck up. Well they must of taken it on board ! because for the first 30 mins of the second half we seemed to remember what we were here for. we started to challenge for the ball and put some nice passes and through balls toghether ! which resulted in us taking the lead ten mins into the second half with a goal from matt knowles ! 5 mins later matt scored his second! 2-0 to new york ! then callum neill scored to make it New York 3 Disley 0 ! then with 15 mins to go mattknowles scored his 3rd goal for his hatrick , 4-0 game over ! We started to go on this goal hunting trail ! ya know !! the trail that forgets about positioning and has most of your team attacking ! well we were brought down to earth with a bump ! because Disley started to hit us on the break ! and before we new it they had pulled it back to 4-1 ! a great headed goal from a corner and a shot outside the box! we were now under pressure again ! in the sense New York and Disley were hitting each other on the break ! end to end stuff.The final whistle went ! and New York ran out 4-2 winners . On the balance of play overhall ! i dont think anyone would begrudge New York the victory ! havin said that im sure Disley will rue there missed chances in the first half. In all a good game with both teams playing nice football in patches! im sure New York And Disley will improve over the season ! given that both teams are new into the league ! anyway good look to disley for the rest of the season ! it was a pleasure playing your team Jez ! good game of footy. and not least of all ! well done to New York ! lets keep improving boys and put the 100% into a game ! which is needed ! Norbury Athletic 4 New York Rovers 5, new yorks first ever league game !and what a game it was. we were playing at norbury on a very windy afternoon which didnt help either team ! but fair do!s to both teams they set out to play proper football even though the wind was strong. we started the game with ten men for the 1st 20mins minutes with callum thinkin it was a 2.30 ko instead of 2.00pm. and we were struggling to handle the windy conditions ! and on ten mins we went 1-0 down ! norbury coping better with the wind to there backs and some nice football ! we just couldnt get going proper against a strong wind and we were struggling at times to get some rythem into our play ! it was end to end stuff but they were looking the more likley team to increase the score and did 2-0 to them after 18mins mins ! on comes our eleventh man bang 3-0 down after 20 mins and thats how it stayed up to half time ! We needed the break it suited us far more than them. we now had the wind to our backs. the game went the same way as the first half except new york were the more threatening side and ten minutes into the second half luke farrow rounded one of there players and shot inside the box to make it 3-1 then james made it 3-2 ! new york were really at em now ! but norbury still were dangerous on the break , then on 21 mins luke broke into the box but was barged over for a cast iron penalty. it wasnt given ! but 4 minute later callum niell hit a belter from 25 or 30yrds into the roof of the net 3-3 game on 15 mins to go ! but 3mins later they broke through and scored to make it 4-3 to norbury ! it looked like the come back wasnt on some how but 2mins later matt knowles scored a copy cat goal ! exactly like callum niells into the top roof of the net 4-4 10 mins to go. i had to move josh lewis up front coz he was injured ! then unbelievably without being able to run josh lewis recieved the ball out on the right side of there box , and he beat not one ! not two ! but three players and banged the ball into the net ! to make it 5-4 to new york with 5 mins left and thats the way it stayed ! in what was a great game for the neutral ! but a rollercoaster ride for the managers ! well done boys what a great start to our league campaign. Respect must go to norbury coz! on then balance of play there was nothing between the two teams ! and they more than deserved a draw. New York ! you now know what your up against in this league, so lets take the positives out of this game to the next ! and improve on the bad things . New York Rovers 0 Unicorn Athletic 6 Our first ever competitive game in the cheshire cup prelim rd ! This was going to be the first test as a team ! and against unicorn athletic who were promoted to the timperly & district top div after being crowned champions of the 2nd division......anyway to the game both teams started well and got into there stride pretty quickly ! unicorn athletic did not come here to mess about and played direct when in possession off the ball...humping the ball right up to our box with no midfield play what so ever ! where as new york were using the flanks trying to carve out chances. New york were starting to get on top of unicorn and on 20 mins should of taken the lead with a point blank effort by matt knowles saved by there keeper...then from a corner jake macormick should of scored with a point blank header " but put it wide ! all the time though unicorn were very dangerous with the long ball and we were finding it difficult at times to defend against ! then ten mins before the break new york found themselves 1-0 down from a long ball which bounced in our area and created confusion with unicorn stabbing the ball home thru a posse of players ! unjust on new york given we were the better side until then.thats how it stayed 1-0 to unicorn at half time....into the second half and unicorn were now seizing on every oppurtunity to cause havoc in our area with the long ball in and they doubled there lead 5 mins into second half 2-0 unicorn ! we were now having big problems trying to defend these balls with our defenders commiting themselves in desperation instead of holding there forwards up.in the next ten mins we conceded another 4 goals 6-0 to unicorn....we had fell apart in our first real test of how to defend the long ball.....but to be honest we were still threatening ourselves and we ourselves had chances to at least and should of scored at least 3 or four goals ourselves.....anyway 6-0 down 20 mins left..we were now starting to dominate possesion and chance wise .maybe they had taken the foot off the pedal but we had not give up....we were now laying siege to there goal and we shouls of scored on numerous occasions.........hitting the bar with a great shot from luke farrow.....hitting the post with a shot from matt knowles ! and there keeper who played fantastic saving at leats 5 one on ones ! but time was running out and there striker was sent off 5 mins before time.......we did have at least three chances to score in last 5 mins but it was not going to be our day, the 5 mins before HT and first ten mins after the break did the damage bigtime and although we had enough chances to score at least 8 or 9 goals ourselves ! if you dont put ya chances away you dont score ........full time new york had been taught a lesson at the back and will put this right hopefully.....good luck to unicorn who earned there win......PS there manager said the scoreline was very harsh on new york and we played good football....hard luck new york and lets get ready for the the league campaign this coming sunday Team W cartwright,M fletcher,A fletcher,J crawley,C pemberton,C neill,Jo lewis,Ja lewis,Z greay,L farrow,M knowles,J macormick |
